Wedding reception with a difference

MASERU — It was a wedding reception with a difference.

Mpho and Pulane Nkoane, who tied the knot, were granted the chance to celebrate their big day at Pioneer Shopping Mall.

It was right at the mall that the new couple, together with their families and friends, met for the wedding reception, courtesy of shopping centre.

The mall’s marketing assistant, Tšitso Rantaoleng, said they went to the District Administrator’s office and asked the first couple that tied the knot to come and celebrate their wedding at the mall.

“Unlike in the past, today’s wedding celebration is real.

“We asked the first couple that tied the knot to come with their relatives and celebrate their wedding here,” Rantaoleng said.

He said the venue and all the expenses were covered by the shopping centre and entrepreneurs displaying their wedding gowns and cakes.

“We booked the couple at a local hotel for their honeymoon,” he said.

He said this was their attempt to promote the wedding exhibition that began on August 31 and ended yesterday.

The exhibition sought to help local entrepreneurs who sell wedding gowns, cakes and wedding planners to showcase their talents.

“We are hosting this event to help our local business people who plan weddings and have other products and services,” Rantaoleng said.

He said over 10 000 people visit the mall every day adding this gives local entrepreneurs a chance to advertise and market their products.
