FNB opens branch in Butha-Buthe

MASERU — First National Bank (FNB) on Thursday opened another branch in Butha-Buthe, the fourth to be established in Lesotho.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony, FNB chief executive officer, Trevor Holtman, said the bank started operating in Butha-Buthe in December last year.

“We wanted to grow our banking services and this branch offers all the services that are available in other branches,” Holtman said.

He said FNB had been well received in Butha-Buthe since it began operations in the district.

“In terms of banking services this is a full branch as it has all services offered by other branches,” he said.

Speaking at the same function, Central Bank Lesotho (CBL) governor, Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane, said FNB had been doing very well since it began operating in Lesotho in 2004.

“When they first started operating it was an external branch for FNB South Africa, and in 2007, it became FNB Lesotho,” Matlanyane said.

“They extended out of town opening the third branch in Maputsoe and today they have launched the fourth branch in Butha-Buthe,” she said.

“FNB was the first bank in Lesotho to introduce the ATM.”

She said the bank has since applied to open two more branches in Mafeteng and Mohale’s Hoek.

She urged FNB employees to offer good services to customers and respect them.

“They should strive to make sure there are no long queues for customers in banking halls,” she said.

A customer who attended the event, Seithati Molomo, said since the opening of the bank last year they had saved clients a lot of money as they no longer need to travel to Maputsoe or Bethlehem to access banking services.

“We are very happy to have FNB in Butha- Buthe because we don’t have to waste time and money to travel to Bethlehem for banking services,” Molomo said.

  1. we are very very to have FNB we are going to enjoy their good servive we used to find @ Maputsoe

  2. What does it mean ” FNB was the first bank in Lesotho to introduce ATM?”

  3. We are grateful that FNB management in RSA decided to bring their investment into Lesotho and we hope for the better services. We are also experiencing FNB diversification. But the services of FNB’s Maseru two branches are very very poor. It operates with very lazy and demotivated staff. I think training would be essential in order to boost employees morale.

  4. We also need FNB at Qacha`s Nek we are also sick and tired of travelling to Matatiele to do our business transactions, when are you guys going to open a branch here.
