MASERU — The Lesotho National Rugby team, Likatola, is preparing for a gargantuan clash against the Eastern Free State rugby league champions, Ladybrand Rugby Club, set for November 29 in Ladybrand.

This will be the second match for the Lesotho team after battling the same opponents last month.

The Federation of Lesotho Rugby (FLR) secretary general, Litšitso Motšeremeli, told the Lesotho Times on Tuesday that the match against the ladybrand side forms part of the friendly matches organised to help the team play regularly against tried-and-tested teams.

He said the game will help them prepare for next year January test match scheduled to take place in Botswana.

“We are very happy with the progress of our team and we feel that they will get better with more game time,” Motšeremeli said.

He said their only injury concern is with the team’s front man, Lefeta Selia-lia.

“The players are all fit except Selia-lia who is still nursing an injury.

He said Selia-lia is an experienced player and his absence will be a big blow.

“We know that they are ahead of us because they have been involved in the sport for a long time, but it is good for the growth of our team,” said Motšeremeli

The national team squad is dominated by players from Maseru Kings who have been playing in the Free State rugby league.

He also told this paper that they were in Qacha’s Nek last week as part of their mission to introduce the sport across the country.
