BASOTHO have been urged to vote for the artistes they wish to see performing at the Lesotho edition of the Shosholoza music festival.
Shosholoza, a Southern African music fiesta which has already been staged in South Africa early this year, is set for its Lesotho leg at 4Fordy club on 30 September.
One of the organisers, Jerry “Doglander Dee” Madubela likened the festival to a train “that moves from city to city in South Africa so we arranged something that would move around Southern Africa”.
“It is something that breaks through borders hence the name Shosholoza.
“Shosholoza caters for Southern African countries. It started in South Africa in Limpopo, then Mpumalanga and the third edition is coming to Lesotho on 30 September with the next stop being Mozambique then Swaziland while we confirm other places.”
He said the festival created jobs wherever it went as they hired promoters from the hosting cities.
“We also focus on local artistes and since we are coming to Lesotho, we will focus on Lesotho acts.
“By asking people to vote for the artistes they want to see we are trying instill patriotism in local audience for them to believe in their own. I was born in Khubetsoana (Berea district) and as an artiste I know the struggles of local acts who are often sidelined at various events.”
He added that Shosholoza Lesotho would cater for all genres, from Hop, House, Gospel, Jazz and Dancehall.
“We already have the likes of Juvy oa lepimpara, Mega Hertz, MIP, DJ Trybz with the list growing daily,” he said, adding they would also feature a surprise act from South Africa.
