MASERU — Foreign basketball teams are expected to grace the Summer Slam Charity/ Memorial Basketball tournament set for December 14 – 15 at Lehakoe Club.

Teams from South Africa, Swaziland and Botswana will join the eight local teams to compete in the annual tournament.

Lesotho will be represented by Bashana Ba Heso, KTA All Stars, Rovers, Lerotholi Polytechnic, Limkonkwing University, Buffalos, Lia-luma, Leseli and Shines.

In an interview with the Lesotho Times, Lesotho Basketball Association (LBA) public relations officer, Ratšolo Molupe, said the charity tournament will feature 16 male teams and six female teams.

He said the two-time champions of the tournament, Goodfellas, from South Africa have already confirmed their participation as well as one team from Swaziland while Botswana teams are yet to confirm.

According to Molupe the tournament is also played in remembrance of the life of the late former Lesotho national team basketball player-coach, Molapo Mohale.

Molupe said based on the passion and hunger displayed by the local teams, he is confident that this year the trophy will not leave the country.
