MAFETENG-BASED Ribaneng Lodge and Cultural Village will host a two-day outdoor adventure event starting on Saturday.
Dubbed Weekend of Adventure, the event will include such activities as camping, quad biking, bird watching, night runs as well as cave, waterfall and pony trekking among others. It will also include performances by local artists and DJs.
According to the lodge’s events organiser, Katleho “Kiddy” Ramoko, the aim of the event was to help participants “get in touch with nature” away from the hustle and bustle of daily life as well as to promote domestic tourism.
“Getting in touch with nature helps refresh the mind during the long weekend and offers a welcome respite from daily routines,” she said.
“Most entertainment events in Lesotho are music oriented, yet there are many ways that we can enjoy ourselves while also discovering the tourism attractions the country has to offer.”
Ramoko added: “The outdoors are the perfect place to meditate and break away from the stress and depression of everyday life.
“We invite people to join us in the quest to find our inner selves and conquer the fear of heights as well as exploring nature, which will all be done through extreme sports.”
She said the event would start off with a music show to prepare participants for the lined-up activities.
“On Saturday, we will kick start with musical performances to allow the participants to settle in and get ready for the day of adventure that will follow,” said Ramoko.
“We are hoping to host such events on a monthly basis with different themes meant to promote the tourism sector.”
