Former national team defender, Mpitsa Marai, has been appointed LCS coach.
The former Bantu assistant coach takes over from Katiso Mojakhomo who has retired from the game.
Marai played for LCS and was also assistant coach at the club before joining Bantu in a deputising similar role at the start of the 2014/15 premiership season.
LCS public relations officer, Kofa Rantai, would not confirm Marai’s return when contacted for comment, but could only say the club was in the process of making changes to their technical department.
“I’m not in a position to go deep regarding the changes, but we will soon hold a press conference to update our supporters on the latest changes at the club,” Kofa said.
“All I can say is that there won’t be a lot of changes to our technical team as well as playing staff.”
However, an insider at the club told the Lesotho Times that Marai would be coaching the team next season as he was familiar with the club.
“He has already been given his letter of appointment and also already notified Bantu that he is leaving as he was assistant coach to Motlatsi Shale,” the source said.
Meanwhile, according to the source, there had also been suggestions to bring back Mosholu ‘Shoes’ Mokhothu, who led the club to their last league title in 2012/13 .
Mokhothu could however, not be prized away from Lioli where he has already penned a new one-year deal.
LCS ended the 2014/15 season in third position on the 14-team premier league table, and Marai would have his work cut out to win the title.
Repeated efforts to get Marai’s side of the story proved fruitless.
